About Us

In November 1988 the Lord called our Pastor, Carl A. Turner Sr. to lead a small group of believers in West Chester, PA., Highway Gospel Community Temple, Inc. Under his leadership and guidance the church purchased a building in which they still worship today, 418-20 East Miner Street, West Chester, PA. The ministry grew and the Lord blessed. Many souls were won to Christ and many remain today.

It was in October 1999, that the Lord impressed upon our Pastor to begin a ministry in the Delaware area. At that time we had quite a few parishioners that traveled faithfully to the West Chester, PA. location for services from the Delaware area. Highway Word of Faith Family Worship Center held its first service on Sunday, October 3, 1999 at the Best Western Hotel on Route 273. Below you can see change in locations for our ministry.

• BEST WESTERN HOTEL: 1999 – 2002
• CHRISTIANA HIGH SCHOOL: 2002 – 2006
• GEORGE WILSON COMMUNITY CENTER: 2006 – 2011

The Highway Word of Faith Family Worship Center went through quite a few challenges in  the first eleven years of ministry. Our biggest one was securing a permanent location.

Within a couple of months from starting the Delaware ministry, the Lord led Pastor Turner to Route 273 where there was a five acre plot of land for sale. It was his original desire to build God a house on the land that we were blessed to purchase, but with economic situations with members within the ministry along with other challenges that all ministries face, we began to reassess the situation about building a church home. 

In January of 2011, Pastor Turner began to seek the face of God along with the members as to whether we should push forward with the new building project or seek another location. We began our search for our permanent church home.

After many negotiations and much prayer and continuing to stay in the face of God, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, Highway Word of Faith Family Worship Center, Inc. became the proud owners of our church complex located at 901-7 East 7th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

We likened ourselves to the children of Israel as they were on their journey, just as they crossed the Red Sea to get to their Promised Land, Canaan, so has the Highway Word of Faith Family Worship Center crossed over into their Promised Land.

We held our first service in the newly renovated annex building on Sunday, July 18, 2011. And by the help of the Lord and a committed group of church members we held our first service in our main sanctuary on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.
